The SERVIR project provides several satellite-based data products that address the problem of fires in Mesoamerica. These products are being used to monitor the location and extent of fires and their potential impact in the region. Two products in particular will be of interest to regional disaster response and land management communities: 1) Mesoamerican Web Fire Mapper and 2) MODIS Rapid Response Fire Mapper.

The Mesoamerican Web Fire Mapper, developed by the University of Maryland, NASA, and CATHALAC, is an on-line, interactive map application that displays active fires detected by the MODIS Rapid Response System. Users may also subscribe to obtain email alerts for fires in protected areas or in a defined geographic area. Click on the links below to view the latest fires and subscribe to the fire email alert system.

The MODIS Rapid Response Fire Mapper shows daily hotspots detected by the MODIS sensor aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites. Click on the Realtime Image Viewer link to view hotspots from today and previous days. Click on the SERVIR-VIZ icon to view these products in a 3D globe environment. Click on the SERVIR Data Portal Icon and type in the key words "Disasters" and "Fires" to view and download related data.
