In follow up to the support that CATHALAC provides in the context of SERVIR during extreme events, we provide here a preliminary analysis of the landslide that occurred in the Cerro Xicut area of Guatemala. This relies upon various images to compare the situation before and after the landslide, as well as the interactive SERVIR-Viz tool for the 3D perspectives. The volume of the displaced material according to CONRED was 10 million metric tons. At least 38 people died due to this landslide; however, search and rescue has been suspended out of precaution for further landslides. |
