UAH and CATHALAC agree to promote the transfer of knowledge E-mail
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the UAH and CATHALAC with the purpose of developing activities and projects that encourage research, education, and technology transfer, in themes related to water resources and environmental management, which address the threats that can arise from the effects of global climate change.

The initiative of subscribing the Memorandum of Understanding between CATHALAC and UAH, emerged in light of the conjunct mission of UAH and the Marshall Center of Spatial Flights of the National Aeronautics Spatial Agency (NASA), visit that took place from the 14th to the 17th of January of the present year in CATHALAC´s offices in Panama City.

CATHALAC is an international organization at the service of the region of the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean, and whose purpose is the promotion of sustainable development through applied research and development, education, and technology transfer of water and environmental resources, facilitating the means for the betterment of the quality of life in the countries of the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean.  

The UAH is recognized for its engineering and science programs, especially in Astrophysics and Atmospheric Science.  The scientists of UAH managed the first “commercial” programs of non-governmental spacecrafts of the United States.  The first superconductor of “high temperature” was discovered at UAH, as well as the first elevated experiment aboard the soviet station MIR.

El equipo de SERVIR en CATHALAC ha desarrollado un portal geo-espacial en googlemaps, el cual provee acceso a los datos y metadatos de México, Centroamérica y el Caribe. SERVIR cuenta con robustos programas de entrenamientos y construcción de capacidades, que fortalecen el uso de la observación de la tierra y modelos para la toma de decisiones entre oficiales gubernamentales, científicos e investigadores, ONGs, e instituciones académicas.
